How often do I need to tune my piano?

We recommend having your piano tuned and inspected by a technician once every 6 months to ensure a long lifespan for your instrument.

Why does a piano need to be tuned?

The tension of the strings stretching across your piano loosen over time and from wear- the strings then no longer produce the correct pitch. Once a piano goes out of tune the string tension must be restored. Pianos go out of tune due to normal use and temperature/ humidity/ seasonal changes. As pianos are made of wood they are subject to expanding and contracting influencing a change in tone, pitch, and action response of the instrument.
Regular tunings and maintenance on your piano will save you from expensive repairs in the future.
